They use generic words such as controller parts, game genres, arcade terms, level types and development jargon. There are no game, studio, console or character names anywhere in the puzzles.
Game Heroes and Game Worlds are easy puzzles with words like knight, wizard, castle and volcano. Game Genres and In the Game are medium puzzles with words such as platformer, checkpoint and inventory.
Retro Gaming is a hard puzzle with arcade cabinet, pixel art, eight bit, cartridge, side scroller and chiptune. Arcade Fun is the easy version with tokens, prizes and pinball.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
