Every Sight Words puzzle on this page is free to play online and free to print as a PDF with its answer key, one by one. Only the optional booklet, all 12 puzzles bundled into one print-ready file, costs money.
They draw on the Dolch lists, from pre-primer to third grade, and on common high-frequency words from Fry-style lists. A puzzle holds only 8 to 18 words, so it is practice for a few words at a time, not a full list.
Start with Pre-Primer Words, Primer Words, Colors and Numbers or Little Words. Each has eight short words in a 10 by 10 grid, with words running only across and down. Many are words children meet in early readers.
Tricky Spelling Words is a hard puzzle with enough, though, rough, weight, neighbor, friend, beautiful and other words that do not spell the way they sound. It suits students in about third grade and up.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
