How to use these Shapes word searches
Preschool and elementary teachers can use the easy puzzles in a shapes unit, and math centers can use the medium puzzles on polygons, triangles and circles. Flat Shapes and Shapes Around Us use words like CIRCLE, STAR, HEART and WHEEL. They are 10 by 10 grids with words only across and down, which suits ages 6 to 8.
The medium puzzle Polygons hides pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon and decagon, and the hard puzzle Beyond Four Sides adds dodecagon, hendecagon and icosagon.
The hard puzzle Geometry Terms uses parallel, perpendicular, bisector, midpoint, transversal, congruence, reflection, rotation, translation, dilation, theorem and axiom.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
