Plants Need, Parts of a Leaf, Sunny Day and Why Plants Matter are the easy puzzles. They use short words such as sun, water, air and leaf and run across and down only, which suits grades 1 to 3.
Inside the Leaf, Light Reactions and The Calvin Cycle use terms like chloroplast, thylakoid, stroma and Rubisco. The hard puzzles add pigments, C4 and CAM plants, and the scientists who worked out the process.
Key Words includes carbon, oxygen, glucose and sugar, and Plants Need has water, air and soil. Photosynthesis and Climate links the process to the carbon cycle and the way forests and plankton store carbon.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
