Most clue words are English, but many are Spanish or Nahuatl names for foods, places and holidays, such as pozole, tlayuda, Guadalajara and ofrenda. That makes them useful in a Spanish class too.
Festivals and Holidays is a hard puzzle that hides Dia de los Muertos, ofrenda, cempasuchil, calavera, La Catrina and pan de muerto, along with Nochebuena, Three Kings and Rosca de Reyes.
Ancient Mexico is a medium puzzle with Aztec, Maya, Olmec, Toltec and Teotihuacan. Mexican History is a hard puzzle with Montezuma, Hernan Cortes, Juarez, Zapata, the Revolution and Cinco de Mayo.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
