They use names of places, leaders, equipment, ranks and everyday home front life. There are no descriptions of fighting, and the easy puzzles use simple words such as VICTORY, GARDEN and LETTER.
Allied Leaders and Wartime Science in the medium level work well for ages 11 to 14. Allied Leaders hides Roosevelt, Churchill, Eisenhower, De Gaulle, MacArthur and Zhukov.
Battles and Places in the medium level, then Pacific and Asian Theater and European Theater in the hard level. They hide place names such as Midway, Okinawa, Luzon, Kwajalein, Arnhem, Tobruk and Omaha Beach.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
