How to use these Math word searches
Use the easy puzzles as a first grade center activity or a rainy-day game at home. Teachers can start class with a vocabulary warm-up, hand a geometry or algebra puzzle to early finishers, or set a calculus puzzle for a math club. Tutors can print one before a unit to preview the key terms. Each PDF has the puzzle on page 1 and the answer key on page 2.

Try Counting Numbers, Adding and Subtracting or Shapes All Around. They use short words such as PLUS, ZERO and CUBE in an easy 10 by 10 grid, with every word running across or down.
The hard puzzles include terms from geometry, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, number theory and logic, plus famous mathematicians such as Euclid, Gauss and Noether.
Pick the puzzle for the unit, such as Fractions and Decimals or Graphs and Data. Students find each term and can then say what it means, which makes a quick vocabulary check.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
