How to use these Geometry word searches
Give an easy puzzle to first and second graders while you introduce shapes, or use the medium puzzles as a vocabulary check at the start of a geometry unit. High school teachers can hand out Proofs and Logic or Constructions to early finishers. Tutors can ask students to sketch each shape they find. Flat Shapes, Solid Shapes and Shapes Around Us are the best starting points. They are 10 by 10 grids with eight short words like circle, cube and cone that run across and down only.
The medium puzzles on Polygons, Triangles, Angles, Circles, Area and Volume, and Solid Figures match the vocabulary of grades 6 to 8, from isosceles and hypotenuse to radius, chord and vertex.
The hard puzzles cover proofs and logic, coordinate geometry, transformations, constructions, trigonometry and famous geometers such as Euclid, Archimedes and Hypatia, with long terms in every direction.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
