The medium puzzle Darwin and His Voyage hides DARWIN, BEAGLE, GALAPAGOS, FINCHES, TORTOISE and ORIGIN. The Natural Selection puzzle goes on with TRAIT, VARIATION, MUTATION, FITNESS and ADAPTATION.
Begin with the easy Long Ago, Animal Features or Changing Over Time puzzles. They use short words such as FOSSIL, BEAK, FIN and ADAPT in a 10 by 10 grid, with words running across and down only.
It lists the eras Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic, the Cretaceous and several older periods, and the epochs from Eocene to Holocene. It is a 16 by 16 puzzle with eighteen terms for older students.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
