Types of Rocks is the best match. It hides igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, granite, basalt, marble, limestone, sandstone, obsidian, slate, quartz and shale, and it fits a 4th to 6th grade rocks unit.
The easy Volcano puzzle has lava, magma, crater and vent. The hard Plate Tectonics puzzle adds subduction, epicenter, seismology, Richter scale, tsunami, ring of fire and Wegener.
It lists the Paleozoic periods from Cambrian to Permian, Cretaceous, the three eras, and epochs such as Eocene, Miocene, Pliocene, Pleistocene and Holocene, plus the words era, epoch and strata.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
