The six easy puzzles. Lab Gear, States of Matter and Kitchen Chemistry use words like BEAKER, STEAM and VINEGAR, which young readers meet in simple science lessons, in a 10 by 10 grid.
Each puzzle holds a handful of words. Periodic Table in the medium level has twelve common elements, and Rare and Heavy Elements in the hard level has eighteen more, such as tungsten, bismuth and krypton.
Great Chemists in the hard level hides names such as Lavoisier, Mendeleev, Dalton, Faraday, Pasteur and Pauling, along with Boyle, Bohr, Rutherford and Hodgkin, who worked from the 1600s to the 1900s.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
