Veterans Day falls on November 11 because World War I fighting stopped on that date in 1918, and the day was first called Armistice Day. The medium puzzle From Armistice Day covers that history, including the 1954 name change.
Thank You Heroes, Red White and Blue and Parade Day use short words like FLAG, BAND and BRAVE. They are 10 by 10 grids with words only across and down, which works for ages 6 to 8.
The Armed Forces and Branches of Service puzzles name the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force, plus the Reserves. The Sea Service and Aviation puzzles go deeper into ships and aircraft.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
