The easy puzzles name tiger, nurse, blue, mako, lemon and bull sharks. The medium and hard puzzles add hammerhead, great white, thresher, goblin, sixgill, porbeagle and other less familiar species.
The easy puzzles use gentle words such as fin, pup, egg and reef. The words describe how sharks live and what they eat, and nothing in the puzzles is graphic.
Shark Science has elasmobranch, cartilaginous, countershading, bioluminescence, telemetry and tagging, while Shark Behavior has breaching, electrolocation, cleaning stations, bait balls and migrating. Both suit older students and adult shark fans.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
Page 2 of every PDF is the answer key, with each word marked where it hides. When you play online, the Show answers button marks them on the grid.
