Birthday Cake and Ice Cream Shop use short, cheerful words like candle, icing, cone and scoop in a 10 by 10 grid. They work for ages 6 and up and are quick to finish between games.
Desserts of the World includes tiramisu, churros, mochi, pavlova, gulab jamun, kulfi and knafeh, with 18 words in a 16 by 16 grid. Custards and Puddings adds panna cotta, flan and kheer.
They are word puzzles built from dessert names, ingredients and baking terms. Baking Tools and Techniques lists words such as whisk, sifting and proofing that a home baker would meet in a recipe.
Easy puzzles (10 by 10, words across and down) work from about age 6. Medium puzzles (13 by 13, diagonals added) suit ages 8 to 11. Hard puzzles (16 by 16, every direction, backwards too) are for older kids and adults.
